Kiswana Salters
It’s always good to see small town people doing big city things! As for Kiswana, she’s been doing just that as an emerging artist! A native of Florence, South Carolina, she emerged out of the shadows in 2016 with a compelling message during the time when African Americans and people of color were faced with the abhorrent symptoms of racism that seemingly began with the Emmanuel 9 (not far from her hometown) and successively a series of unarmed Black men being gunned down by law enforcement. Considering these series of events that reflected a portion of America’s dark past, inspiration soon came and the studio recording of her debut single, “The Black Plight was born. The music video was filmed by Digital Florence Media in December 2016 and the response was astronomical! It was the first time in the history of the city that a music video was filmed, moreover, a video with this kind of message.
Kiswana’s second single, “Hello Victory”, delivered upbeat retro vibes with an extraordinary modern twist in September 2017 with the music video to follow. The music video was filmed by the incomparable Randy Branch Media team and choreographed by one of South Carolina’s finest, Jasmine Edney of Columbia, South Carolina. Kiswana wowed us all and gave the world a glimpse of her diverse abilities as an artist.
Kiswana’s first EP, “The Quintessence of Becoming” is underway! This project will articulate aspects of the journey we’ve all embarked upon – figuring out who we are and our life’s purpose. This is a highly anticipated project!
Sensational seems to characterize Kiswana’s trailblazing artistry in her community and beyond. She has consistently proved that just being the best version of yourself is all you need to impact the people around you! Kiswana believes that if you carry the message you were meant to carry, there will always be someone to listen!
